Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Colleague is a free set of calculators and a unit converter for students, published at wearecolleague.com. This policy explains what information the site collects, who else receives it, and the choices you have. You can reach us at hello@wearecolleague.com about anything in this policy.
2. What we do not collect
Colleague has no accounts and no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address, postal address, phone number, or payment details, and we do not sell personal information.
The numbers you enter stay in your browser. Every calculation runs locally on your device. Grades, loan amounts, salaries, and any other figures you type are never transmitted to us, never stored on a server, and never shared.
3. What is collected
- Usage data — pages viewed, which calculators are opened, referring site, approximate location derived from IP address, and device and browser type.
- IP address — sent automatically by your browser with every request, including requests to the third parties described below.
- Cookies and similar technologies — set by our advertising and analytics partners, described in Sections 4 and 6.
- One preference stored in your browser — if you close the advertising bar at the bottom of a calculator page, we record that in your browser's session storage so it is not shown to you again in that tab. It contains nothing but that fact, never leaves your device, and is erased when you close the tab.
4. Advertising
Colleague is supported by advertising, which is what keeps the calculators free and free of accounts. Advertising on this site is served by Google, using Google AdSense, and may also involve other third-party vendors.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Colleague or to other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Colleague and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks that serve ads on this site may also place and read cookies in your browser, or use web beacons and similar technologies, to collect information about your visit.
These partners process the data they collect under their own privacy policies, not this one. You can review how Google handles data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. Your advertising choices
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by Google by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You may opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- If you are in Europe, you can also use youronlinechoices.eu.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so does not stop the calculators from working — they run locally either way.
6. Analytics
We may use a third-party analytics service, such as Google Analytics, to understand which calculators people use and where the site is slow or confusing. Analytics providers may set their own cookies and process data under their own privacy policies. We look at analytics in aggregate; we do not use it to identify individual visitors.
7. Fonts
The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those font files directly from Google, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set by this.
8. Consent in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we and our partners ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies or using your data for personalized advertising, as required by the EU User Consent Policy and applicable law. Where a consent prompt is shown, it identifies the parties that may collect and process data, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time through that prompt or through your browser settings.
Where we rely on a legal basis other than consent, it is our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the site.
9. How this information is used
Usage data and analytics tell us which calculators people rely on, what is broken, and what to build next. Advertising data is used by our partners to select and measure the ads shown to you. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing beyond the advertising described above.
10. Data retention
We do not operate a database of visitor information. Data held by our analytics and advertising partners is retained under their own standard retention periods, which you can review in their privacy policies.
11. Children's privacy
Colleague is intended for a general student audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, contact us and we will address it.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal data about you, to object to certain processing, or to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because Colleague holds no accounts and no visitor database, most such requests are best directed to the advertising or analytics provider that holds the data. 13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
